Ivy's 1st birthday party

Jasper's friend Ivy turned one last week and to celebrate her super stylish parents, Elyse and Radek, threw the most gorgeous birthday party in her honour. Finger sandwiches, cupcakes, home made lemonade and the sweetest ducky cake you can imagine.

Elyse sourced the table decorations including paper plates, cups, napkins and cupcake wrappers from Brisbane based stores Coming Up Roses and Carnival Parties

The invitations for the party and custom bunting were designed by the very clever Jennifer at Love JK. Floral Robert Gordon lanterns were also hung across the deck.

Ivy's mum Elyse is super talented. Not only did she set up the party and arrange the sweetest flowers but she also made the cutest cake imaginable.
Aren't they a beautiful family?! Ivy's dad Radek is a very talented photographer and captured so many great memories that afternoon. Even though Ivy wont remember her 1st birthday I am sure when she is older she will love looking at these photos and see how lucky she was.
Lastly one of Jasper and I enjoying some attention (he was a hit with all the baby girls as he was the only baby boy  - although I don't think he minded one bit). It was his very first birthday party and what a great one it was. The best part of his day I'm sure was the cake he got to try for the first time. I've never seen someones eyes get any bigger (and his are pretty big). He became so excited he couldn't stop licking the icing off his hands.

Happy Birthday Ivy Winter, what a wonderful 1st year you have had so far. xo

I started a business today

Often you will hear mums say they achieved nothing today... and as a new mum I came to the realisation fairly quickly that more often than not you will feel like you ticked very little off your to do list. You look back on the days where you had only yourself to think about and realise how easy you had it.

Then there are days where you achieve so much. For instance Jasper (my super cute baby boy - of course I'm biased) and I did the following:

We went for a swing in the park
Played peekaboo
Found the rhythm of our hips with Mr Knickerbocker
Threw toys all over the lounge room... and the bedroom, the dining room, the bathroom. Let's face it I'll be finding toys in unusual places for days
Read Stuck by Oliver Jeffers and Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
Giggled until my cheeks hurt
Hugged about a hundred times
and we started a new business

My new venture is called Dudley Co and is really a partnership with my talented husband who helps design and build our range. If you have a spare moment please check out the Dudley Co website dudleyco.com.au and let me know what you think.

After a fun day like today I wonder why I hadn't done it sooner! And by 'it' I mean both becoming a mum and starting my business.
